Welcome to Say Wha?!

My blog is devoted to ME. Yes Moi! Things I approve/disapprove of in my shopping, traveling, dining, shooting pics, or just walking down the streets of my hood (NYC beybey!). Enjoy!

The Return of Moonwalker?!

I don't even know what to say about this except that the trailer for Return of the Moonwalker is so awful, that I MUST see this film.

Coming Soon: The Man with the Iron Fists

The Man with the Iron Fists has the potential to be really really awesome or a complete piece of shit for many reasons.  Directed and co-written by RZA of Wu-Tang Clan (this could be a good thing or a bad thing), with the help of Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) the plot summary according to IMDB is as follows:

In feudal China, a blacksmith who makes weapons for a small village is put in the position where he must defend himself and his fellow villagers.

Ok sounds good right? But check the cast...Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, RZA, Pam Grier and WWE's Bautista. Oh so random. I will definitely be keeping up with the details as they become released and will hit you with the trailer as soon as possible.  According to online reports, the film is currently shooting in China.
Random: RZA has previously worked with Russell Crowe in American Gangster and The Next Three Days.

Random: Drunk Baby Trashes a Bar....

Check out the hilarious short, Las Palmas.  The little baby fanny pack and mini wine glass are killing me.

New Movie: Insidious

Check the trailer for Insidious, the new horror film from the makers of Paranormal Activity and Saw.  Looks kind of like a mashup of a few haunted house movies I've seen already, but I dig Patrick Wilson (Watchmen, Hard Candy), so I will give it a go.

Tupac Shakur Biopic back on!

How long have they been talking about creating a biopic about the life and death of Tupac? Well finally, Antoine Fuqua, director of big hits like Training Day, has stepped in and brokered the deal between Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur-Davis and the production company. Ms. Shakur-Davis has approved of Fuqua's vision for the film and pre-production is scheduled for this year.

Who do you think should play Pac? I know Anthony Mackie already played him in Notorious, but he has the acting chops to do an awesome job.

And the new Wonder Woman is...

Some chick named Adrianne Palicki. She's supposedly from Friday Night Lights, but the only thing I recognize her from is Supernatural and Smallville.  She's definitely not as hot as Lynda Carter was back in the day, but I could care less who plays the character, as long as the show isn't total crap (see, The Cape).
The Wonder Woman update is currently in pre-production and will premiere on NBC some time next year.

Tim Burton Fans Rejoice...

...and mark your calendars, the 3D version of Tim Burton's Frankenweenie is to be released on October 5, 2012! Voice talent includes Burton favorites and Beetlejuice cast members, Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara.

For those of you unfamiliar with the 1984 short film Frankenweenie, you can check out a little bit below.  The story follows a little boy named Victor Frankenstein and his beloved dog, Sparky.  When Sparky is fatally hit by a car, young Victor decides to bring him back to life (random: check out Bastian from Neverending Story playing Victor).

The Best News of 2011 is....

Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to movies! This is music to my ears. The past decade has churned out a bunch of girly men posing as action stars. Now that he is no longer the Governator, Arnold posted on his twitter that he is currently looking into starring in some film projects. If he picks the right project, he has the potential for a HUGE comeback (i.e. more the Bruce Willis route and less the Slyvester Stallone).

The Return of Waynes World...

You can tell Mike Myers is a little rusty, but I will always love Waynes World!

New Movie: Yelling to the Sky

After checking the trailer for Yelling to the Sky, I have to say that I am thoroughly interested.  It appears to be a vehicle for Zoe Kravitz to finally come out of her parents shadow.  There is no dialogue in the trailer, which leaves you intrigued and unable to pass judgment on her acting skills.  I just pray to God she doesn't disappoint me because I'm rooting for her. Filmed on location in Bushwich (BROOK-LYN!), Zoe stars as Sweetness O'Hara, a young girl who finds herself transplanted in a new environment, where every day is a struggle to survive.  The film also stars Gabourey Sibide in a post-Precious role.

Yelling to the Sky has been accepted into the 2011 South by Southwest Festival.

Added to my Netflix queue...

Recently out on DVD, Night Catches Us...

Starring Anthony Mackie and Kerry Washington:

"In 1976, complex political and emotional forces are set in motion when a young man returns to the race-torn Philadelphia neighborhood where he came of age during the Black Power movement." (IMDB).

John Leguizamo's GHETTO KLOWN

John Lequizamo's fifth one-man show hits Broadway this month.  I've always been a bigger fan of his one-man shows than of his movies, Mambo Mouth in particular. Like his other shows, Ghetto Klown, which is directed by fellow actor Fisher Stevens, delves deep into his NYC roots and his family life.

Previews begin on February 21st and the show opens on March 22nd at the Lyceum Theater.

Movies I'm adding to Netflix today!

New to DVD...

Monsters. Post alien invasion survivor movie.

Red Hill. Austrailian western starring Jason Stackhouse.

And if you haven't seen it, you need to check Let Me In. A remake definitely worth watching, but I still favor the original.
