My blog is devoted to ME. Yes Moi! Things I approve/disapprove of in my shopping, traveling, dining, shooting pics, or just walking down the streets of my hood (NYC beybey!). Enjoy!

Movies: Trick R Treat

One of the most original horror movies that I've seen in awhile. Trick 'r Treat was in instant classic in my mind after the first time I watched it.  The mysterious little Samhain is a scary little bugger. Check it out this Halloween.  You won't be disappointed.  If you have Fearnet HD channel, they will be playing it for 24hours straight starting at midnight this Saturday.

Black Martha Stewart...Apple Edition

I love the Fall!

Here are a few pics from my October trip to Lyman Orchards in Middlefield, CT

Pet Cancer Awareness Month

November is pet cancer awareness month (who knew?).  Next time you are giving your furry friend a bath or grooming, you may want to check for any unusual lumps or bumps. Also check out the article, Ten Warning Signs of Cancer for your pets.

Slasher Film Bodycount

This is so cool.  Yahoo calculated the body counts per movie of our three favorite serial killers, Michael Myers, Fred Kruger, and Jason Voorhees.  Of course Jason wins, but I always felt that Freddy had more style

God I love Tim Burton!

Tim Burton's 1982 stop motion animated film, Vincent.  Narrated by none other than Vincent Price.

New Movie: Dirty Pictures

Dirty Pictures is a documentary about Dr. Alexander Shulgin, the creator of ecstasy.  The film follows the scientist, who is now well into his 80s, and his wife, researching and experimenting with new ways to expand the mind...pharmacologically of course! Check the trailer. Until I can get a lock down on a copy of this movie, I'm going to check out the book PiHKAL: A Chemical Love Story by Dr. Alexander Shulgin that details the couples work and relationship. Should make for an interesting read.

Movies opening today...

My pick...

Conviction starring Hillary Swank and Sam Rockwell. Snoozefest.

Jackass 3D. (seriously?)

New Movie: Skyline

Just in time for the imminent alien invasion (see flying saucers over Chelsea), Skyline will be hitting the theaters.  General plot line: aliens threaten to take over the earth.  I peeped this trailer while at the theaters, and although they do have some pretty good special effects, the cast leaves me with the feeling that I should just hit up the bootleg man for this. Digital copy only of course.  Check out the trailer.

Free Horror Movie on Itunes...

In time for Halloween, Shorts International will be releasing several short horror movies, one of which, Roar, will be free to download on Itunes on October 19th.

Plot: A shy key cutter who takes drastic action after a girl rejects his gesture of goodwill.

I love my hair!

Thank you Sesame Street!

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Premieres Tonight!

It's about time for some housewives with some real money.  Check out my breakdown of the cast here in my prior entry.  The DC Housewives were a snooze, the OC broads are tired, so I'm hoping this new batch brings some real California drama.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills premieres tonight on Bravo at 10pm.

Saw 3D: The Final Chapter

I was over the Saw franchise after the second movie, but I have to admit, the introduction of the 3D element, the return of Carey Elwes' character, the promise of an end to the madness, and this new trailer kind has me a little.  Check it out.

Saw 3D: The Final Chapter in theaters Halloween weekend of course. Anyone want to join me for a little blood and guts thrown at our faces?

New Movie: Red Hill

Jason Stackhouse (aka Ryan Kwanten) is starring in a new movie out of Australia, Red Hill. Check it out, it looks pretty good.

Plot: A young police officer must survive his first day's duty in a small country town.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert on Broadway

Priscilla Queen of the Desert opens at the Palace Theater on Broadway in March 2011 and Bette Midler has recently signed on as a producer! First Pee Wee, now Priscilla? All we need is Beetlejuice on Broadway and I can die happy.

For all you who don't know, Priscilla is based on the movie of the same title which starred Hugo Weaving (The Matrix), Guy Pearce (Memento), and Terence Stamp (Superman II) as Australian drag queens on an adventure through the bush.

Napoleon Dynamite Animated Series...

I don't think I've been excited about any show premiering on Fox in decades.  According to Variety, Fox has green lit the animated version of Napoleon Dynamite, with all of the original movie actors on board as voice talent. No air date has been scheduled yet.

Celebrate International Moment of Frustration (Scream Day)

October 12th is International Moment of Frustration Day. For us on the East Coast it was supposed to be at exactly 7am, but I say, take any moment out of your day to let out your frustration. I guarantee you will feel much better.

For you sneaker fiends...

...with $15,000 to spare.  The original Marty McFly Nike's worn by Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future II will be going up for auction (hoverboard not included).

Also check out the vid below. Some geeks are actually developing a REAL self-lacing shoe like the one featured in the movie.  They already have a prototype.

For all you label whores...

There is a 7 for all mankind warehouse sale on Thursday, October 14th from 11am-8pm (for those with VIP passes) and the following Friday through Sunday for the general public, at the Metropolitan Pavillion in NYC, 123 W. 18th Street, 5th Floor.

She-Ra Turns 25!

Man we are old!  2010 marks the 25th Anniversary of the cartoon.  I can't tell you how much I loved this cartoon (back when cartoons were super awesome)! Check out the CNN article with the voice of She-Ra here.

Hulu is currently streaming all seasons of She-Ra.  Man I wish the Hulu iphone subscription was free! Netflix will jump on the animation streaming soon if they know what's good for them! I've posted S1E1 for your enjoyment.

Movie: Night Catches Us

Night Catches Us stars Kerry Washington, Anthony Mackie (The Hurt Locker/Notorious), and Jamie Hector (Marlo from The Wire).  This period piece looks like it could have alot of potential if it can maintain a strong storyline throughout the entire film.

Plot: In 1976, complex political and emotional forces are set in motion when a young man returns to the race-torn Philadelphia neighborhood where he came of age during the Black Power movement.

Check the trailer.

Documentary: The Strip Game

Description: "Method Man follows the lives of five strippers living in five different states. More than a voyeuristic trek between strip clubs, the film is an insightful, intimate look at the everyday lives of strippers."

1. How did this come out in 2005 and I'm just hearing about it now?

2. Who let Method man direct a movie?

3. Why is this being shown on Hulu?

Movie: Lost Boys: The Thirst

All I have to say is...why? This straight to DVD flick is already in stores, but are you really going to buy it? or even rent it? Or spend $5 on a digital bootleg? I'll wait until it hits the SyFy channel.

Silk City Film Fest

What is this? Hartford has a film fest? Hartford actually has something going on? October 7th - October 10th the Silk City Film Fest will be hosted by several venues all over the city such as the Wadsworth Atheneum, Capital Community College, and City Steam Brewery followed by several workshops and after parties. They are showcases alot of interesting movies and general admission tickets start at $7, with the proceeds going to portion of the proceeds being donated to local charities.

High Rollers Luxury Lanes at Foxwoods

Foxwoods has really been upgrading lately.  High Rollers Luxury Lanes grand opening this Saturday, October 9th, hosted by none other than media whore Kim Kardashian. Now if only someone could find out how much it costs to luxuriate while knocking down 10 pins!

Movie: Audition

I'm on a Takashi Miike kick right now. He is the director of the the ultra violent, Ichi the Killer, which I'm currently re-watching on Netflix instant during my lunch breaks (shhhh!).  However, recently I just finished watching Audition, which can also be found on Netflix instant.  Man, I thought I dated some crazy chicks, but Asami Yamazaki takes the cake.  I'm generally pretty good with horror and gore, but there is something about needles being stuck in the eye socket that turns my stomach!

Plot:  A widower takes advantage of a Hollywood type movie audition to find a new bride and is blinded by love.

Movie: The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest

The trailer for the movie adaptation of third novel from Stieg Larsson's Millennium series is here! I have yet to read this book (damn the paperback not out yet), or see the second movie, The Girl Who Played with Fire, so I'm posting this for your enjoyment.  I don't want to be tipped off to any plot lines. Noomi Rapace reprises her role as Lisabeth Salander for the third time. Hollywood has gotten ahold of the series rights to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (check the original on Netflix instant) and has already begun production on a remake.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest hits theaters October 29th.

Reality Bites: Real Housewives of Atlanta last night...

The run down...

Sheree: Oh boy Sheree. You are too old to not have a focus.  Your shyte clothing line is on "hold" because you want to pursue acting? Any hoo...

Nene: I feel bad for her family situation. Lying ass husband. Dumb ass son.  But chick definitely needs some anger management classes.  I'm a little over her acting a fool in public. It makes me cringe.

Kim: Nothing worse than a fake ass lesbian. Also, please upgrade your wig game.

Kandi: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Phaedra: I love the fact that she is a self-made woman, but her "Southern Belle" ish is going to work a nerve after awhile.

Cynthia: Where were you this episode booboo?

Dwight: The 7th housewife. Seriously, if you got it like that where you can just drop G's on people, why are you bringing it up later and throwing it (indirectly) in their face? Something is rotten in Denmark.

Are you watching?

New Movie: Red

You can't get any better than old people kicking ass. Especially when it's Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, and Hellen Mirren (please don't get naked...again).  Red is based on Warren Ellis' DC Comics graphic novel of the same title.  Check the trailer.

Plot: retired black ops agents reassemble their team to take down an assassin.

Some Scary S***!

Real or fake, eff that doll!

Possessed Doll?
Uploaded by czoom. - Classic TV and last night's shows, online.

Real Housewives of Atlanta new season starts tonight!

Awwww sookie!  Let the hot messness and tomfoolery begin! Check out my previous run down of the new season here.  Will you be watching? Of couse you will!

Real Housewives of Atlanta premieres tonight on Bravo at 9pm.

HBO does Mildred Pierce...

Unless you like watching the Turner Classic Movie channel like myself, then you probably aren't familiar with Joan Crawford's 1945 pic Mildred Pierce.  HBO has decided to turn the movie into a five part mini-series starring Kate Winslet in the title role.  Check out the trailer below. The series also stars Evan Rachel Wood, as daughter Veda Pierce.  I'm not a fan of Evan Rachel Wood, however Veda Pierce is not the most loveable character, so she may actually work in this role.  Mildred Pierce will be shown on HBO in Spring 2011.
