Nike Air Force 1 Low Supreme - Five Boroughs

In celebration of the release of the Nike Air Force 1 Low Supreme, Five Boroughs kicks, on Saturday, July 31st, the Nike Store in Soho will be hosting a block party complete with BBQ, drinks, and music by DJ Clark Kent.

Will you be copping these joints for $135 each? The Brooklyn and Manhattan ones are cute, but not $135 cute.

Reality Bites: Project Runway Season 8

So Project Runway Season 8 began last night.  Check the full episode here if you missed it.  In this episode, contestants were given 5 only hours to complete a full look, from an article of clothing donated by one of the other contestants.  The constrained time limits definitely showed.  I can't say after episode one that I have a clear favorite that I am riding with, but we can talk about who were absolutely horrible.  I won't spoil the show by telling you who was cast off.

Casanova:  our gay, very latin designer created what looked like a stripper's idea of a classy outfit.  If the judge's decided to cut more than one person, he would have been one of my choices to be out.  I think they kept him because they needed a little bit of personality on the show.

Ivy:  My girl was given a pair of pants, and she made pants out of them *smh*.  OUT.

Jason: straight boy from Connecticut.  His design was a kimono worn backwards and stapled closed? Art maybe, but fashion, no!  It was interesting to look it, but that trick won't get you any far.

McKell: Dredlocked white girl from...Utah. Her garment was just one hot unfinished mess.

No real talent or personality stand outs as of yet (e.g. Santino Rice or Christian Siriano).

Project Runway comes on Lifetime, Thursdays at 9pm. Watch with me!

New Movie: Piranha 3D

Pure horror cheesefest and I love it!  It actually looks alot better than I thought it was going to be.  If you've seen the old 1978 version, then you know what I'm talking about.  As we all know, Hollywood is hard up for an original idea, especially in the horror genre. So if you can't beat em', join em!  The redux is in 3D, so thats a plus.  The killer fish will be flying right at your face!  Piranha (2010) surprisingly pulled a few names: Richard Dreyfuss, Elizabeth Shue, Ving Rhames, Jerry O'Connell. I actually may have to roll an L and check this out when it hits theaters August 20th!  Check the trailer below:

Shark Week 2010 Starts August 1st!

Discovery Channel's annual Shark Week begins on August 1st. Check the link for the Top 10 Shark Attacks!

Movies: Thor

Check the extended trailer for the upcoming Marvel comic to live action movie, Thor.  The movie stars Chris Hemsworth (who?) as the lead character. Sprinkled in for a little street cred are Anthony Hopkins and Natalie Portman.  I can't say that even after watching the trailer, that I'm one bit excited to see the film.  Thor always seemed like one of Marvel's gayer characters, and the story seems so convoluted that the director is trying to squeeze everything possible into this one movie.  Hopefully the action sequences saves it.

Movies: The Avengers Cast Announced

The Avengers is not due out until 2012, but it appears to be one of those movies that will be talked about and speculated upon until opening day.  This week at the San Diego Comic-Con, the cast was finally announced.  Besides Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man) and Mark Ruffalo (the new Bruce Banner/Hulk), does anyone really care about the other characters.  Thor and Captain America were always a little...how you doin? And the other characters are irrelevant.  Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) is an awesome actor, but Hawkeye? Seriously? The only factor keeping me mildly interested in this movie is the fact that Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is directing.  There just seems to be an awesome factor missing that I can't put my finger on, that is preventing me from getting excited about this movie.  Hopefully they will rectify before opening day!

Reality Bites: Peter Le of K-Town

I have no interest in this show whatsoever, but have you seen this guy?! How do you say "How You Doin?" in Korean?  Dude has posed for Playboy, so there has to be some birthday suit pictures out there on the net somewhere. However, when asked about his sexual persuasion on Facebook, he stated that "he prefered not to label himself".  We all know what that means! Doesn't that just figure!

K-town is an Asian version of Jersey Shore

Batman: Under the Red Hood

Out today on DVD today, and officially at the top of my Netflix queue is Batman: Under the Red Hood.

Synopsis: Batman has some competition with the new and mysterious Red Hood, who seeks to clean up Gotham City...his own way.

FYI. Red Hood is voiced by Jensen Ackles of Supernatural!

Let's see how long it takes for Netflix to send it to me.

Update:  Included in the DVD is a Jonah Hex Animated Short.  See a clip below.  I'm thinking they should have come out with the animated version of Jonah Hex first prior to that train wreck they call a live action movie.

Rihanna Acting?

News broke today that Rihanna is set to make her acting debut in Peter Berg's Battleship, due out in 2012.  Yes this Battleship is based on the popular board game.  I was going to give the movie a chance after hearing earlier this month that Alexander Skarsgard (Eric of True Blood) was the star and would potentially be shirtless for 3/4 of the movie.  However, after the Rihanna revelation, this movie may have to be first on my shunned list of 2012.  It all greatly depends on how big of a role they give her.  Hoping she gets two lines and is killed in the first 15 minutes. I will keep you updated.

Hey Fangbangers...True Blood Comic series out today!

At first glance, it doesn't appear that they are selling the series at Barnes and Noble or Borders.  That throws a monkey wrench into my plans of running out to pick it up on my lunch hour. They definitely carry it at HBO.com and Amazon.com for around $5 a pop.  I will be ordering mine today!

Movie: The Gravedancers...Watch Online Free

Originally one of the 2006 Horrorfest 8 Films to Die for, The Gravedancers is one of the series' better films. Dominic Purcell of Prison Break is probably the biggest name in the film. Three friends come together after the death of a loved one and decide to drink their worries away by partying and dancing in an old graveyard! Ummhmmm. Well the occupants of those graves were none too happy about it! Watch it online for free here.

Books: The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Ok so I finally finished Stieg Larsson's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.  It's the first of his three part Millennium series. After months of seeing everyone and their grandmother with the book on the train, and reading reviews of the Swedish language movie adaptation, and hearing that the Americans will be creating their own version, I decided to finally pick it up. I had a 40% off coupon at Borders! This book is very slow to start. The story didn't really start to pick up and get interesting until around page 200 (the book is around 600 pages total).  I was very close to just putting it down and never picking it up again.  But alas, I paid good money for it, so I continued.  Part mystery, part crime novel, when the story finally picked up, it really picked up!  I don't want to spoil the book for anyone, but the story centers around a missing girl, who is also member of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden, and the disgraced journalist and mysterious tattooed female private investigator, hired to solve the crime.  I generally not a fan of the genre, but I enjoyed the book thoroughly, even if the plots were a little all over the place. It's almost as if there are like four different stories going on at once. My brain is a little scattered and very random, so it kinda worked for me. I've already bought the second book, The Girl Who Played With Fire and started it today.

Randomness: Bionic Cat

Check out Oscar, the bionic cat. I'm starting to think doctors are just doing things just to do them.  Perhaps this is a way to test on animals without PETA getting their panties in a bunch?

Movie: Let Me In vs. Let the Right One In

The trailer for Let Me In is out! It's the American version of the creepy Swedish movie, Let the Right One In, which is based on the book by John Lindqvist (pure awesomeness) . Check it out.  Not sure if Chloe Moretz pulls off creepy vampire as well as Lina Leanderson, but the movie doesn't look as awful as I thought it would.

Real World XXIV: New Orleans | Ep. 1 | Welcome to New Orleans!

Check out the first episode of Real World New Orleans. This cast seems like they may breathe some life into the franchise.  Once I check it out, I'll be back with my review and let you know if it's worth the watch.

Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) - Trailer Official HD

It looks like they are trying to keep the same feel as the original. I still have yet to see the theater version which I heard was way scarier than the one that was on the DVD release.  You can tell the budget has increased significantly.  Are you going to check it out?
