MAC Cosmetics Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50

If you have normal to oily skin like myself, and you are looking for a priming lotion (not a moisturizer) with sun protection to apply under your makeup? Then try MAC's Prep + Prime Face Protect with SPF 50.

The product is very light, oil free, and has some type of oil sucking magic powder that prevents makeup melts and greasy foreheads. Twenty minutes in the swampy NYC subways, I emerged flawless. The true test was after a day at the beach in South Miami...still no oil slicks!

Pros:

Serious UV protection.
Controls makeup grease
Doesn't effect my foundation
1 oz. bottle lasted me approx. 3 months.

Cons:

Expensive $30 per ounce
Hard to wash off. I have to use a scrub and then a cleanser
Not a moisturizer in any way shape or form. If i have any dry patches, I have to put a real moisturizer on those areas.

Dear Last Night's Episode of True Blood...

Season 3 Episode 35: Fresh Blood **spoilers***

Aaaaaah! Last night's episode was so good that I ended up cursing at my television when it ended so abruptly.  The conclusion of the episode also reminded me that there is only one more episode left! Season Finale is scheduled for September 12th.

A drunken Sam bursts into the bar showing his true colors, cursing everyone out and offending his best friends.  He also kicked out his brother Tommy, which looks like is going to turn out to be a big mistake, as they show Tommy cracking open Merlotte's safe and setting up some sort of electronic device.

Last one standing after Sam's tirade was Tara.  After a short discussions about how much they have in common, they finished the conversation in Sam's trailer...bow chicka bow wow.

Side note: Tara sure has been getting in it this season. Kudos!

Lafayette and Jesus start coming down from their V trip, but Lafayette is having some bad flashbacks (i.e. seeing Jesus has a demon). I wonder what that means? I knew something was fishy about Jesus, but guessing we won't find out until next season with only one episode left.

Hoyt and Jessica go at it, vamp style.

Arlene gets assistance from Holly, the wiccan waitress, to get rid of Rene's baby, but the abortion doesn't take.

Eric is running a con on Russell, playing on his desires to become a day walker by drinking Sookie's fae blood. Bill joins in on the con, but for some reason stupid Sookie doesn't get it and again thinks that she can't trust Bill.  Show ends with a big showdown at Fangtasia...DUN DUN DUN!

Snoozer storyline: Jason deciding to stick with Crystal to save her from a life of inbreeding. He also finds out that the high school star quarterback is hopped up on V, but there is nothing he can do about it.

Randomness: Antoine Dobson on the Today Show!

Antoine Dobson on the Today Show!

New Movie: Machete

September 3, 2010, Machete will finally be here! We've only been waiting for this movie since the 2007 trailer/spoof in Robert Rodriguez' Grindhouse: Planet Terror.  The cast is MAJOR (and a little random)! I can't even contain myself. I don't even care about the plot. Good look on Danny Trejo finally getting a starring role. Dude has been in about 100 movies playing "you know, that badass mexican dude, with the bad skin, that gets killed".

Written and Directed by Robert Rodriguez (of course)
Danny Trejo, Jessica Alba, Robert Deniro, Steven Seagal, Michelle Rodriguez, Jeff Fahey, Cheech Marin, Don Johnson, and Lindsay Lohan.

I'm down, are you?

New Movie: Scream 4: The Final Stab

Dare I say that I am getting slightly excited about the new Scream movie.  Generally not a big of the franchise, the final movie in the series is gearing up to go out with a bang. Wes Craven is returning to direct and cast members include the return of Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette.  Hoping to breath new life into the movie are Anna Paquin (Sookie!), Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, and Rory Culkin.  The original Scream debuted in 1996!

Scream 4 hits theaters April 15, 2011!

Random side note:
Did anyone else know that Wes Craven directed Eddie Murphy's Vampire in Brooklyn?? **smh**

Movies: The Experiment

Just added to my Netflix queue today, The Experiment starring Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker.  Out on DVD on September 21st, this is the first I've even heard of this movie. Check the trailer here.

Plot: "Paul Scheuring directs this gripping thriller about a group of ordinary men who volunteer to take on the roles of guards and inmates in a mock prison as part of a controversial psychological experiment. When Barris (Forest Whitaker) and the other guards abuse their power in unnerving ways, Travis (Adrien Brody) and his fellow prisoners stage a revolt. Maggie Grace co-stars in this film based on the infamous real-life 1971 Stanford prison stunt."

Apparently, The Experiment is a remake of a 2001 German film entitled Das Experiment, which is now playing instantly on Netflix.

New Movie: Black Swan

Black Swan stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis in the lead roles. Directed by Darren Aronofsky, who previously directed awesome films such as Requiem for a Dream and The Wrestler. I'm not sure if this is just a really good trailer, the hints of lesbianism, or the fact that she looks like she mutates into some type of creature.  Either way, it looks interesting enough for me to post this blog. I'm not a big fan of Natalie Portman and I only see Mila Kunis as a tv actress.  We'll see!

Check out the trailer for yourself. Black Swans hits theaters December 1st.

New Movie: Monsters

Monsters looks like a 28 Days Later meets War of the Worlds.

Plot: "Six years after Earth has suffered an alien invasion a cynical journalist agrees to escort a shaken American tourist through an infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.

Check out the Trailer below." (IMDB).  Monsters hits theaters in the UK in November.  Not sure about the US release yet.

Dear Last Night's Episode of True Blood S3E34

I Smell a Rat

**spoilers**

Last night was an improvement over the previous episode and seemed to be a night of revelations.

- After an awkward kiss with Tara, Jason reveals that he is the one that killed Eggs. She is mortified but has no real response toward Jason except to run away.
- Crystal reveals her true panther form to Jason. Too soon I think.
- Bill tells Sookie of his romp in Fairy World and of her true nature. Does this mean that Claude and Claudine will not have a big role on the show?
- Lafayette and Jesus trip on V together and get a glimpse at their supernatural histories. Turns out they are both descendants of witch doctors/and healers. However, we find out that Jesus' grandfather practiced the dark arts and supposedly had some plans in store for him. Not sure where they are going with this.
- We finally got a look into Sam's past.  Turns out he was a thief and a murderer. Ok, now let's move on.
- Arlene admits to Terry that Rene is the father of her baby.
- Hoyt professes his love for Jessica. Get's mortally wounded by Tommy in pitbull form, ends up sucking on some of Jessica's blood, strengthening their bond.

Revelation we could have done without...

- It seems that without Talbot, Russell is a psychopath.

This somehow doesn't work for me. Especially the scene with him sleeping with the dead male prostitute. Next week should be really good as Eric has chained Sookie up in his dungeon.  We don't know if it's for his benefit or her own good. DUN DUN DUN!

Get ready for it bitches! October 4th is the premiere of Season 3 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta on Bravo.

Lisa Wu-Hartwell is out this season. They cancelled that bitch.    Sheree, Kandi, Nene and Kim will be returning.  Debuting are model, Cynthia Bailey, entertainment attorney, Phaedra Parks, Nene's new nose and Kim's fake lesbian lover. I'm sure the drama will be MAJOR with this bunch.

Dear Last Night's Episode of True Blood S3E33

Episode 33: Everything is Broken

Hmmm? Seriously, you are kind of losing me here True Blood. ***spoilers***

WTF moments...

- Franklin comes back, no explanation how, only to be blasted away by Jason Stackhouse moments later.
- Bill gets transported into fairy world somehow, explanation still up in the damn air.
- King Russell killing a newscaster on air and basically declaring war on the human race.
- Really? You're bringing Hadley's son into the mix already.
- Calvin Norris as a bad guy

Highlights:

-Sam flipping out on Calvin Norris
-Jason blowing Franklin to bits
-Lafayette and Jesus

With only a few episodes left in the season, I feel like they are jumping the shark a little bit.  Everything just feels a little rushed.  Like they are trying to throw so much story in but not giving any explanations.  Time to step your game up HBO and fast!

New Movie: I Spit On Your Grave

Remake of the 1978 movie Day of the Woman/I Spit on your Grave
Premise: A woman is brutally raped and comes back to seek some serious revenge on her attackers.
I'm only giving this the light of day because I spied Joey from Nightmare on Elm Street 3 & 4 in the trailer and I haven't seen him acting in ages.  Going on the Netflix queue as we speak!

If you plan on spending the money, I Spit on Your Grave hits theaters in October.

Dear Last Night's Episode of True Blood S3E32 **spoilers**

Episode 32: Night on the Sun

PROS:

  • Did anyone else find it extremely sexy when buck nekid Eric was seducing Talbot, then turns his ass over and stabs him in the back? Just me? Anybody? Ooookay, alrighty then...
  • Jessica skills get nasty after Bill finally teaches her a thing or two.  Starting to like her alot, eventhough her character is mad random.
  • Lafayette and Jesus back on...que caliente!
  • Alfre Woodard.  Lafayette's crazy momma knows whats really up in Bon Temps.
  • Sookie and Bill going at it on the floor after they just murdered a bunch of werewolves.  Thank you HBO!

CONS:
  • Boo @ Sookie letting Debbie Pelt get away.
  • Tommy Mickens character, still a bit on the annoying side.
  • Umm, how is Arlene's baby supposedly Rene's? Now that doesn't make any kind of sense.
  • Alcide kept his shirt on this episode
Check the Postmortem below:

LED Gel Manicure

So we all know how I am a sucker for new beauty products and procedures.  In the search for a new manicure, I came across in article in New York Magazine Beauty News touting Shikuza NYC's LED gel manicure as the Best Bet of the Summer.  The process uses LED light instead of the usual UV. The LED light cuts down drying time and is supposedly safer for your skin (UV = sun damage = old granny hands).  Shizkuza NYC is also offering the LED manicure now through Labor Day for $40 and if the polish chips within 10 day, they will fix it for free. I was sold!

I scheduled an appointment for July 29th. I met with manicurist, Kumiko, who was very nice. She explained every step of the process to me and which polishes were more likely to show flaws or chips the quickest.  Check the results:

I was very happy with the results and I was out of the salon in about 30 minutes or so. I am very rough with my hands, so not having to worry about my nail polish chipping was fabulous.  After a full week some of the glitter is gone, but the manicure still looks tight.  My nails grow super fast so there is some nail showing at the cuticle. But because I got a natural color, it doesn't show that bad.  I'm going in for a soak off next week.

The only con to this process I would say is the lack of variety in colors.  There were maybe only 10 to choose from.  However, if my nails were long enough at the time, I would have gotten the French manicure. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't get sick of it as quickly.

Is it possible to have a teaser trailer when they haven't begun filming the movie yet?  Well it looks like the people over at Marvel think so. My guess, they will come out with one of these every three months or so, just to keep people interested.  Check the trailer/narratation below.

Reality Bites: Real Housewives of DC premieres tonight!

The Real Housewives of DC premieres tonight, August 5th at 9pm on Bravo.  Will you be watching?

The cast breakdown is as follows:

Stacie:  The only African-American in the cast. She's a Harvard business grad and successful business woman and the only cast member to actually live in DC.

Michaele:  Notorious White House party crasher, and apparent drama queen (see today's story of drama with Whoopi Goldberg on The View). Something tells me her husband will turn out to be another Simon from the NY cast, becoming the sixth Housewife.

Catherine:  British transplant, interior designer and writer.

Lynda:  Danielle Staub doppelganger and owner of a prominent modeling agency in DC.

Mary:  Her familial roots run deep in DC. More than likely she's a trust fund baby.

New Movie: Don't Be Afraid of the Dark (trailer)

Don't be Afraid of the Dark is stars Guy Pierce and Katie Holmes, who was a decent actress before she married whatshisface.  The story line goes well beyond your average haunted house scenario, and it was co-written by Guillermo Del Toro, so you know it will definitely be awesomely spooky.  Check out the trailer.  The movie hits theaters in January.

Dear Last Night's Episode of True Blood, **spoilers**

You were a tad bit random. The killing of Lorena and the rescue of Bill Compton was the only part of the episode that was consistent with the series.  However, I had still some issues with it.  As hardcore as they made Lorena out to be, I can't see her accepting getting murdered by the hands of Sookie so easily.  Especially because of how much Lorena despised Sookie.

The relationship between Sookie and Alcide seems to have been cut to a minimum. Are we supposed to believe that Alcide would risk his life to rescue Sookie, all because his father owes a debt to Eric? There is something missing or does HBO just assume we've all read the books? Which I have, but I'm sayin tho!

Sam's family and the dog fight scenes, so random and unnecessary.

Claudine was introduced way too early in the story to the point where it makes no sense whatsoever.  That whole dream sequence was cheesy.

This episode left me unsure of the rest of the season. Please step your game up by next Sunday.

Very truly yours,

Psycho fan.
