Stephen King does a vampire graphic novel!

Eff Twilight! That is what Stephen King is essentially saying with the new vampire graphic novel, American Vampire and we all know Mr. King knows his vampires (see Salem's Lot). Scott Snyder created the original concept for the novel and also contributes a story. Check out Stephen King's introduction to the novel here.

American Vampire hits stores October 5th!

M.A.C. Venomous Villians

Gotta love a gimmick! The newest limited edition to M.A.C. is a small line based on four Disney Villians...Cruella DeVil, The Evil Queen, Maleficent, and Dr. Facilier from The Frog Princess (Wouldn't Ursula have been more appropriate?).

I do have to say that the lipglass and lipstick containers are very very cute.

Get ready for the robot invasion!

Forget aliens and zombies, it's the robot/cyborg war we will have to worry about first.  Check out this "humanoid" teach itself, yes you heard right, teach itself how to shoot a bow and arrow.  Convinced scientists don't watch movies (see Terminator 1-4).

Movies: Gaspar Noé's Enter the Void (review)

I honestly couldn't explain the full scope of this movie to you.  It's just one of those things that you  have to see for yourself.  The basic storyline is about a pair of American siblings, brother and sister, trying to scratch out a living in Tokyo.  The rest of the movie takes you on a visual rollercoaster, that at one point, I felt kinda nauseous and wanted to get off.  I left feeling a dazed, confused, and a little high.  All in all, it was original, and thats what I loved about it. Eventhough I (along with about 50% of the audience) totally missed the subtle ending, which the director had to point out at the end of the film.

Let Me In hits theaters this Friday, October 1st...who's down?

Let Me In, is the remake of the 2008 Swedish film, Let the Right One In, which was based on the John Lindqvist novel.  The update stars Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass).

I'm always hesitant of American remakes, especially of films that I really like.  However, from checking the trailers and reviews, Let Me In may actually turn out to be really good.

Anyone down to check it out this Friday?

New Show: Undercovers tonight at 8pm on NBC

Gotta give NBC props, Undercovers is the first major network action-drama starring two African-Americans that I can remember in a very long time.  J.J. Abrahms (Lost, Fringe) has his name behind this series and the promotions have been ridiculous.  I pray this show does not suck or they won't give us another show for another decade or two.  The series stars Boris Kodjoe, who can hide mediocre acting skills behind his fineness, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw (say who now?), some British actress no one has ever heard of.  They play the roles of married ex-CIA agents who get reactivated. Sorta Mr. and Mrs. Smith-ish? Check the preview below.  Will you be watching? Undercovers premieres tonight on NBC at 8pm.

New TV Shows: Hawaii Five-O...review

I can't believe I actually watched a CBS series last night. After staring at the posters for the new Hawaii Five-O series in the subway for the last month, I was kind of brainwashed into giving it a try. Hawaii Five-O the remix stars Scott Caan and hot piece of man meat, Alex O'Loughlin (Moonlight).

Nothing really cerebral about the show. Old fashion cop drama with a new twist. Last night's episode centered around Alex O'Loughlin's character returning to the island to investigate his father's murder. He is then recruited to head up a new elite task force and manages to break up an illegal immigrant smuggling ring by the end of the episode. Gotta give props to CBS for the hot Asian sidekicks played by Grace Park and Daniel Dae Kim (Lost) and for holding my attention for an entire hour.  I'll definitely watch again if I remember it's on.

Watch the full episode online here for free.

Fun fact that I didn't know. Scott Caan was in the rap group The Whooliganz with The Alchemist.

New TV Shows: The Event...review

The Event premiered last night on NBC. Most of you probably didn't bother to watch because Dancing with the Stars was on, but I have to give a new scifi show a chance.

The first episode left me so confused. I didn't know what was going on and I was stone cold sober.  The story lines kept going back and forth.  They threw in about a million characters all at once.  What is The Event? Who the hell knows! Looks like they are going to try and string us along for a bit.  The first episode was filled with so much gobbledeegook, that I'm not sure that they will be able to hold most viewers, with the exception of SciFi geeks like myself that will give it another go.

*spoilers*

All we know so far is that the main character, Sean, played by Jason Ritter (John Ritter's son), uncovers some huge U.S. cover up that not even the President, played by Blair Underwood, knows about.  In the meantime, his girlfriend seemingly disappears off the face of the earth while they were on a cruise, and he also has to thwart a terrorist plot.  The terrorist happens to be his girlfriend's father, who is hell bent on crashing a plane full of people into the President's vacation home, full of party guests. You can tell he is under duress of some sort. By whom, who knows? There is also some hot Asian guy, chasing down Sean throughout the show. Not sure who that guy is yet. The lady who played the crippled doctor on E.R. is thrown in there as some mystery woman.  Is she an alien? Don't know. All we know is the plane gets sucked into a vortex right before it crashes into the island.

Say What?! Yeah, thats exactly what I said to.  Will you be watching next week?

Boardwalk Empire

With the end of True Blood last week, most of us will be looking for a show to fill the Sunday 9pm void.  Luckily, HBO has Boardwalk Empire ready to go.  Boardwalk Empire stars Steve Buscemi (loves him) and is directed by Martin Scorsese. The story centers around Prohibition era Atlantic City.  You really can't lose with Martin Scorsese and gangsters.  You can be sure to catch appearances of supporting cast from past HBO series (e.g. Omar from The Wire).  Check the trailer below. Boardwalk Empire premieres Sunday, September 19th at 9pm.  Will you be watching?

Eff Dr. Phil!

Any lessons that need to be learned about being positive and true to yourself can be learned by watching Sesame Street.  Try it sometime before you leave for work instead of watching the news, and see how much better you feel.

Human Centipede (Final Sequence)

Good news (i think), I just read that the final sequence of the Human Centipede saga has begun filming.  No word as which characters may or may not be returning.  But there are rumors that there will be a 12 person centipede this time around! Yeah I'm sooo there. Human Centipede (Final Sequence) is said to be coming out sometime in 2011.  For those of you who never heard of the movie, check the trailer below (or watch for free on YouTube). It is the illest movie ever.

Dear Season Finale of True Blood...*spoilers*

Sonsofbitches!
How do you have multiple cliffhangers on one show?

Bill tries to kill Eric by burying him in cement along with Russell. Somehow Pam manages to rescue Eric.  Eric makes it in time to spill the beans on Bill's original plans for Sookie.

Bill then invites the Queen to his home for a final showdown. Who wins?

Sam goes after his brother, Tommy, who stole the contents of Merlotte's safe.  Did he shoot him dead?

Jason tips off Hotshot about the Feds and ends up getting arrested.

After telling his mother where she can stick it, and moving in with Jessica, they show Hoyt's mother buying a shotgun at a Fellowship of the Dead approved gun store!

Lafayette is still tripping off of V. Jesus reveals that he's a bruja!

Alcide is conveniently back in the picture after Sookie tells both Bill and Eric to beat it. Ummhmmm.

I need Season Four right now!!!!

Music Video: Drake - Miss Me

Drake ft. Lil Wayne...Miss Me

New Movie: Catfish

I haven't heard of this movie until today, but I have to say, the trailer has got me intrigued.  Listed as a documentary, I can't seem to make out if it's really a true story, or a thriller in the style of the Blair Witch Project.  I'm just hoping that the ending is not a total let down.

Plot description:

"Don't let anyone tell you what it is...
In late 2007, filmmakers Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost sensed a story unfolding as they began to film the life of Ariel's brother, Nev. They had no idea that their project would lead to the most exhilarating and unsettling months of their lives. A reality thriller that is a shocking product of our times, Catfish is a riveting story of love, deception and grace within a labrynth of online intrigue." (IMDB)

Catch Catfish in theaters on September 17th.

Happy Birthday...

ADAM SANDLER!

Animazing Gallery, Soho

If anyone wants to buy me the Tim Burton signed ink sketch of Jack Skellington above, its a steal at $12,000!

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is upon us once again at its new home at Lincoln Center and the city is all abuzz.  What I'm wondering is, does the average person really care? I can pretty much guarantee that the designers do not have the average person in mind when they create their garments.

With level of "brokeness" I will never be able to afford any of these clothes, with my "bigassedness" I will never be able to fit into these clothes, and with my "averageness", I will never be able to get into any of these events.  So why are we (the average American) so enthralled with this world we will never be apart of?

Foxwoods opening a Comix Comedy Club in October!

Foxwoods Casino is upgrading a bit and opening a Comix Comedy Club in October.  I've always liked bumming around Foxwoods moreso than the more chichi-frufru Mohegan Sun.  A comedy club is just what the doctor ordered for those of us who don't really gamble.  Kicking off the opening of the new theater is Patrice O'Neal from October 7-9th.

R.I.P. Otho!

Glenn Shadix who portrayed my favorite character, Otho, in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice died from a fall in his home yesturday.

More 30 Days of Night: Dark Days Info

The 30 Days of Night movies are closely based on the graphic novel series of the same title by Steve Niles.  I've only read the first one, but I can vouch that it was awesome if you are a fan of the genre.

Song of the Day...

Ok the last song I heard today while walking into the office was Juvenile's Back That Thang Up. It almost caused me to act a fool in front of security.  While youtubing the video to post here, I came across my new favorite song (for today).  Check it out...

Books: The Fall in stores September 21st

I am so excited and other vampire lovers, you should be too! The Fall, Chuck Hogan and Guillermo del Toro's second book in The Strain Trilogy hits stores on September 21st.  Check out my posting on Book One: The Strain here. The Strain is still one of the scariest books I've ever read.

The Fall picks up where The Strain left off.  After a vampiric virus quickly spreads across the  New York City, turning the entire population into blood thirsty creatures.  Only one man and a few allies are aware of the true nature of what's going on, and have pledged to stop it, before it takes over the world.

If you don't know, well now you do. Pick up The Strain at the library now before Book Two comes out. Trust you won't be disappointed.

Mortal Kombat Teaser Trailer...

Check out the new trailer for the 2011 Mortal Kombat Game, Mortal Kombat: In the Shadows. It's HOT FIRE. I may have to get back into gaming for this one.

FINISH HIM!

Happy Birthday...

Kiki (Keanu Reeves)! My fellow Virgo turns 46 today.  Whoa!

Happy 90210 Day!!!

Some people with a bunch of time on their hands got together, formed a group, and declared today, 9/02/10, International Beverly Hills 90210 Day! They've even formed a Facebook group.  Eff that crappy new version they are playing now on the CW. I'm talking about the OG, sculpted hair, major sideburns, mile high bangs, cinched jeans wearing, 30 year olds in high school, 90210.

90210 was my absolute favorite show from 1990 all the way up until when Brenda left.  Yes we hated Shannon Doherty, but we hated to see her leave.  My room was wallpapered with photos of Brandon and Dylan that I ripped out of Tiger Beat and BOP.  I even named my fish Dylan McKay.  Don't judge me!

Bonus points to anyone else who remembers this joint from the BH90210 soundtrack! How cute was Jeremy Jordan?!

Happy 90210. Go home and watch an episode.  It's playing all day on the SOAP network.

Coming Soon: Real Housewives of Beverly Hills

Ok so RHDC is a total snooze.  I've given up on them.  We all know that the Salahis were cast as the protagonists of the show, but even they are on the boring side.

Thank god RH Atlanta starts on Monday, October 4th.  Let the hot messness begin!  Check out details on RH-ATL here.

Bravo will be giving us a double dose of Real Housewives this Fall with the premiere of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Thursday, October 14th.  We finally have some housewives with real money.  Bio breakdown:

Kim: Sister of Kyle, also a former actress, doesn't appear to be doing a damn thing. Divorced.

Will you be watching?
