Welcome to Say Wha?!

My blog is devoted to ME. Yes Moi! Things I approve/disapprove of in my shopping, traveling, dining, shooting pics, or just walking down the streets of my hood (NYC beybey!). Enjoy!

Fight for Your Right Revisted Trailer!

I told yall previously that The Beastie Boys had created a short film re-creating what popped off prior to their original Fight for Your Right video. Check out the star studded trailer below. Looks ridiculous, but in a good way. How cute is Elijah Wood?!

Rob Zombie's The Lords of Salem...

Rob Zombie is currently working on an all new original horror flick entitled The Lords of Salem. He's not giving any details up other than the movie still below and that the movie occurs during the Salem Witch Trials.  Let's just hope it's more House of 1000 Corpses and less Halloween (2007).

Jimmy Fallon's Dance Avenue

Seriously, this ish made my day! You have to listen to the words of the song!

This is really happening...Black Dynamite cartoon

AdultSwim officially picked up the Black Dynamite animiated series.  The cartoon should be hitting our screens sometime in 2012.

This is really happening...

Hobo with a Shotgun
*smh*

Hobo with a Shotgun is based on a fake trailer made by Grindhouse's Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. Do you really need to know what it's about? The title says it all, especially the tagline:

Delivering justice, one shell at a time...

Spartacus Season 3

Unfortunately, it's starting to look like Andy Whitfield will not be back and the role of Spartacus has been recast with some guy named Liam McIntyre.  Not sure how I feel about this as I loved me some Andy Whitfield who made me fall in love with the show. This new guy better show his peen or something during the season premiere to appease the Gods or not sure if I will continue to watch. Everybody else died in Season One!

Season 3 of Spartacus: Blood and Sand is slated for 2012.

I will keep you updated.

Dear fellow Supernatural geeks....

Out on Blu-Ray and DVD on July 26th, 2011

The Governator sneak peak hit the net already. If one man were to retire to become a superhero, I guess it would be Arnold. *smh*

Foreigners are so much cooler...

Check out this teaser clip for Soul Man. It looks awesome, althought it probably wouldn't make a dime here in the States.

SOUL MAN™ Teaser Guillaume Ivernel (Blacklight Movies) from Blacklight Movies on Vimeo.

This is really happening!!

THE EXPENDABLES II!!

All the aging bravado in Part I wasn't enough. We need...no we demand a sequel! Say what you want about the movie, sure it had no real plot, and what little story there was didn't make much sense, but all of the explosions made up for it. It also grossed almost $300 million dollars worldwide last year, so you can suck it!

The most awesome news to come out of this is that Bolo Yeung is rumored to be on board!

New Teen Wolf trailer

Bloody hell! Did they seriously try to make this all CWesqe? C'mon son! Why even bother calling it Teen Wolf? They should just call it Twilight without the Vampires. I guess they are counting on no one over the age of 20 watching this show.

Katy Perry's E.T.

Not a huge fan of Katy Perry, but I have to give it to her for trying to do something different. Visually it looks awesome.

New Movie: Conan the Barbarian teaser trailer...

The teaser for the Conan the Barbarian remake was released today. The fact that the teaser is exactly just that, a snippet of nothing, is leading me to believe that this movie is going to be 100% pure poop.  I will hold off on further judgment until the real trailer is released, but I have a feeling that we will be able to put Conan on top of the "Movies That Shouldn't Be Remade" list. The update stars Lisa Bonet's baby daddy, Jason Momoa and no one else of any real importance. Rose McGowan? For realsies?

Awesome new trailer for The Smurfs!

Smurftastic! So going! It stars: Neil Patrick Harris, Hank Azaria, Jonathan Winters, Katy Perry, Alan Cumming, George Lopez, Paul Reubens and a whole bunch of others!

Charlie Sheen done pissed off the Warlocks!

You done did it now Charlie!

New 50 Cent Movie: Things Fall Apart

For reals? Who told Curtis he could write a screenplay? A+ for the Christian Bale like dedication (he dropped from 214lbs to 160lb to play the cancer stricken football player), but this movie looks like poop.

Check out the unofficial trailer for Things Fall Apart.

The Return of Saturday Morning Cartoons?

Saturday morning cartoons were a highlight of many of our childhoods well into the early 1990s. However, due to FCC regulations that required broadcast stations to limit children's programming to 3 hours a week, Saturday morning cartoons all but died.

Nickelodeon is trying to revive the tradition by announcing a new batch of cartoons slated for release in 2012 including a revamped Teenage Mutuant Ninja Turtles, The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra, and Kung-Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness.

Not going to lie, I'm a little excited about these new cartoons. Will you be watching?

Another reason to hate monkeys...

Besides the fact that they can be jerks and may take over the world some day (they'll have to defeat the robots first), monkeys bathe in URINE! A new study believes that male monkeys bathe in urine to attact female monkeys.  The females are able to detect the levels of testosterone in the pee pee, assess the male's monkey's social status, and decide whether or not they want to give him some.  Gross!

Moral of this story folks is when you go to the zoo in Florida or maybe overseas, and they encourage you to pet a monkey, just remember that the bastard probably just took a golden shower. You may not be so quick to pet him and let it climb all over you.

Alien Invasion in the Hood...

Ever wonder what would happen if those dumb aliens decided to invade Brownsville or Bestuy first instead of Manhattan? Anybody? Just me? What looks like a hilarious movie, Attack the Block, seems to answer that question.  Just transpose Bestuy with a ghetto in the UK.  The movie stars Nick Frost from Shaun of the Dead.  Check the trailer below.

Ender's Game Prequel Comic

Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game series is getting a prequel in the form of a seven part graphic novel! Card teamed up with Marvel to present Formic Wars. Check out the trailer below. Formic Wars Burning Earth #1 and #2 are already out.

Book # 1 Synopsis: An unidentified ship is rocketing toward Earth with tech far beyond anything we've ever seen...and the only people who can give warning are a small band of asteroid miners millions of miles from home. The clock is ticking, and it doesn't look good for the human race.

For my Samurai movie fans...

Keanu Reeves is set to star in a 3D epic based on an ancient Japanese legend...47 Ronin.  Samurai in 3D! So there!

The basic story line: An 18th century set story centered on a band of samurai who set out to avenge the death of their master.

The movie also stars this guy, who plays the bad guy in every movie that has Asians in it, and Hiroyuki Sanada, who played Jackie Chan's evil brother in Rush Hour 3. I can't wait for the trailer and more details. I will keep you posted.

For now you can catch the 1994 Japanese version on Netflix instant.

Dancing with the Stars Season 12...Cast Announced

If you like watching C-Z list stars make a fool of themselves, then look no further, Dancing with the Stars Season 12 premieres on Monday, March 21st with a couple of doozies.  Check the cast:

Chelsea Kane (who?), apparently she's from the Disney Channel
WWE's Chris Jericho. They should have booked The Big Show instead.
Baller Hines Ward (who?)
Playboy's Kendra Wilkinson and her boobies
Kirstie Alley
Mike Catherwood (who?)
Supermodel Petra Nemcova
Ralph Macchio!!!!
Romeo...looking all swole and grown
Sugar Ray Leonard
Wendy Williams

With this line up of nobodies and hot messes, will you be watching? Picking my top 3 now as I probably won't consistently watch the show and don't know most of these people:

Romeo, this young hip hopper has to have some moves up his sleeve
Chelsea Kane, shes from Disney, that's all I need to know
Chris Jericho, just because I think it would be funny if this big ass dude could turn it out.

Thundercats reboot...Trailer released!

The Cartoon Network has finally released the trailer for the upcoming Thundercats remake. It looks so awesome. I'm glad that Snarf also made the character cut. Check it out below.

X-Men Anime...

Check out the awesome teaser trailer for an upcoming Japanese anime version of The X-Men.

The Return of Moonwalker?!

I don't even know what to say about this except that the trailer for Return of the Moonwalker is so awful, that I MUST see this film.

Coming Soon: The Man with the Iron Fists

The Man with the Iron Fists has the potential to be really really awesome or a complete piece of shit for many reasons.  Directed and co-written by RZA of Wu-Tang Clan (this could be a good thing or a bad thing), with the help of Eli Roth (Hostel, Cabin Fever) the plot summary according to IMDB is as follows:

In feudal China, a blacksmith who makes weapons for a small village is put in the position where he must defend himself and his fellow villagers.

Ok sounds good right? But check the cast...Russell Crowe, Lucy Liu, RZA, Pam Grier and WWE's Bautista. Oh so random. I will definitely be keeping up with the details as they become released and will hit you with the trailer as soon as possible.  According to online reports, the film is currently shooting in China.
Random: RZA has previously worked with Russell Crowe in American Gangster and The Next Three Days.

Random: Drunk Baby Trashes a Bar....

Check out the hilarious short, Las Palmas.  The little baby fanny pack and mini wine glass are killing me.

New Movie: Insidious

Check the trailer for Insidious, the new horror film from the makers of Paranormal Activity and Saw.  Looks kind of like a mashup of a few haunted house movies I've seen already, but I dig Patrick Wilson (Watchmen, Hard Candy), so I will give it a go.

Tupac Shakur Biopic back on!

How long have they been talking about creating a biopic about the life and death of Tupac? Well finally, Antoine Fuqua, director of big hits like Training Day, has stepped in and brokered the deal between Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur-Davis and the production company. Ms. Shakur-Davis has approved of Fuqua's vision for the film and pre-production is scheduled for this year.

Who do you think should play Pac? I know Anthony Mackie already played him in Notorious, but he has the acting chops to do an awesome job.

And the new Wonder Woman is...

Some chick named Adrianne Palicki. She's supposedly from Friday Night Lights, but the only thing I recognize her from is Supernatural and Smallville.  She's definitely not as hot as Lynda Carter was back in the day, but I could care less who plays the character, as long as the show isn't total crap (see, The Cape).
The Wonder Woman update is currently in pre-production and will premiere on NBC some time next year.

Tim Burton Fans Rejoice...

...and mark your calendars, the 3D version of Tim Burton's Frankenweenie is to be released on October 5, 2012! Voice talent includes Burton favorites and Beetlejuice cast members, Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara.

For those of you unfamiliar with the 1984 short film Frankenweenie, you can check out a little bit below.  The story follows a little boy named Victor Frankenstein and his beloved dog, Sparky.  When Sparky is fatally hit by a car, young Victor decides to bring him back to life (random: check out Bastian from Neverending Story playing Victor).

The Best News of 2011 is....

Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to movies! This is music to my ears. The past decade has churned out a bunch of girly men posing as action stars. Now that he is no longer the Governator, Arnold posted on his twitter that he is currently looking into starring in some film projects. If he picks the right project, he has the potential for a HUGE comeback (i.e. more the Bruce Willis route and less the Slyvester Stallone).

New Movie: Yelling to the Sky

After checking the trailer for Yelling to the Sky, I have to say that I am thoroughly interested.  It appears to be a vehicle for Zoe Kravitz to finally come out of her parents shadow.  There is no dialogue in the trailer, which leaves you intrigued and unable to pass judgment on her acting skills.  I just pray to God she doesn't disappoint me because I'm rooting for her. Filmed on location in Bushwich (BROOK-LYN!), Zoe stars as Sweetness O'Hara, a young girl who finds herself transplanted in a new environment, where every day is a struggle to survive.  The film also stars Gabourey Sibide in a post-Precious role.

Yelling to the Sky has been accepted into the 2011 South by Southwest Festival.

Added to my Netflix queue...

Recently out on DVD, Night Catches Us...

Starring Anthony Mackie and Kerry Washington:

"In 1976, complex political and emotional forces are set in motion when a young man returns to the race-torn Philadelphia neighborhood where he came of age during the Black Power movement." (IMDB).

John Leguizamo's GHETTO KLOWN

John Lequizamo's fifth one-man show hits Broadway this month.  I've always been a bigger fan of his one-man shows than of his movies, Mambo Mouth in particular. Like his other shows, Ghetto Klown, which is directed by fellow actor Fisher Stevens, delves deep into his NYC roots and his family life.

Previews begin on February 21st and the show opens on March 22nd at the Lyceum Theater.

Movies I'm adding to Netflix today!

New to DVD...

Monsters. Post alien invasion survivor movie.

Red Hill. Austrailian western starring Jason Stackhouse.

And if you haven't seen it, you need to check Let Me In. A remake definitely worth watching, but I still favor the original.

The new Superman is...

Henry Cavill!!

Better known as the sexy Charles Brandon from The Tudors, Cavill has been cast as the future Man of Steel.  Eventhough he is a Brit, I definitely co-sign the casting choice.  Cavill has the acting chops and the body for the role.  I'm hoping they make the Superman franchise as dark as some of the graphic novels are, and we can then forget the crapfest which was Superman Returns.

Jeff Buckley Movie

It looks like the Jeff Buckley movie is actually going to get made.  Casting rumors have been swirling the internet as to who will portray Jeff.  Names being thrown out are James Franco and Robert Pattinson.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Jeff Buckley, he was an amazing singer/songwriter in the 90s, whose life was cut short in a swimming accident in 1997.
Are you interested in a Jeff Buckley movie? If so, who do you think should portray him?

Jeff Buckley's Last Goodbye...one of my favorite songs EVER!

Reality Bites: Real Housewives of Orange County starts March 6th

I'm a little over the entire Bravo Housewives series.  I honestly gave up on Atlanta and Beverly Hills midway through the season and will only return to watch the reunion shows.  But for those of you still interested, the Orange County Housewives are back with Season 6 on March 6th with a few new wives on deck.

Returning, Vicky, Tamra, Gretchen (are any of them still wives?) and boring ass Alexis.
New Cast Members include Fernanda, a hot lesbian fitness instructor and Peggy, a stay at home mom.

Will you be watching?

Thundercats reboot image released

An official image for the new Thundercats cartoon series hit the net. They are looking a little soft in my opinion, but I will wait until they release a teaser before I pass any judgements.  Thundercats is set to premiere later this year on the Cartoon Network

I hope they don't eff up the theme song.

New Movie: Rubber

A telepathic TIRE, discovers his psychic powers and sets his sights on a mysterious woman in a desert town. Yes this is a real movie!

Spartacus: Gods of the Arena on TONIGHT!

Tonight at 10pm is the Season 2 premiere of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena on Starz. Those of you who don't have Starz, but have a Netflix subscription like myself, can start streaming it instantly on January 22! I can't wait to see what pops off in the House of Batiatus this season. Let's hope it's good enough so that we don't Andy Whitfield (get well soon, and come back for Season 3) so much.

For those of you who missed Season One, you can catch it on Netflix instant. Definitely worth watching.

True Blood Season 4 Teaser Trailer

I'm not even going to speculate on the new season. HBO seems to use the Sookie Stackhouse novels as a reference point only, frustrating super fans like myself. However, I wonder if the title song suggests the introduction of Amelia Broadway. But does that also mean we are getting away from the whole fairy thing? I'm so confused, but excited for the new season to start.

A Tribe Called Quest Documentary

Can I kick it? Yes you Can!

Michael Rappaport, who I use to love, but now I hate because he looks like my ex-boyfriend, has directed a documentary chronicaling the rise of legendary Queens rap group, A Tribe Called Quest.  Beats, Rhymes, and Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest is being shown at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival.

The film features interviews with some of the hottest stars in hip-hop including The Roots, Mos Def, and Kanye West.  The trailer has been recently taking down from YouTube, so I will hit you back with it as soon as it becomes available again.  The documentary is scheduled for nationwide release early this year.

Movies: Scream 4 Trailer

Movie Watch: James Franco to direct "Night Stalker" movie

If any serial killer had the ability to scare the beezesus out of me, I would put Robert Ramirez, dubbed by the press, The Night Stalker, in my top three. Just for the simple fact that dude was so skinny that he would climb through window cracks to commit his murders. That is until he tried that ish in the hood and caught a beat down.

James Franco is currently on board to direct and star in, The Night Stalker, based on the life and crimes of Robert Ramirez.  Another fun fact is that Chris Cornell of Soundgarden is one of the films producers.

Should be interesting.

Rumer Willis for Badgley Mischka??

Seriously? If her momma wasn't Demi and her daddy Bruce, would she still get the job? She's like 5'2, has a butter face, and her claim to fame is a series of crap movies. Me thinks not!

Director of Oldboy/Thirst films entire movie on Iphone 4...

One of my most recent favorite directors, Chan-wook Park, has created a 30 minute short film entitled, "Paranmanjang" or "Ups and Downs" entirely on his Iphone 4!  Story line details can be found here.  There will be a limited release nationwide, so I will have to do some serious research to find it on a screen in NYC.

Park has created some of the illest movies I've seen in the past 10 years. Click the links below to watch the trailers for some of Park's other films, you won't be disappointed.

Thirst
Oldboy
Lady Vengeance
Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance
